June meeting

Wow, the summer has quickly departed. For us here in South Florida, we are so grateful for our lovely weather except for our very hot and humid summers. Thank God, for no hurricanes for this year.

We had a lively June dinner meeting. Peter, Sandra, Jeanette, Jim, Jill, Lee, John and Laura were in attendance. John, asked the following question. Are we our brothers keeper? The majority of our members answered in the affirmative. An example of this issues was the debate in the U.S. about healthcare for all of its citizens.

We agreed that doctors in the U.S. only treat the symptoms of disease and not the true cause of disease. Jeanette, who works in the healthcare field, believes that Americans are increasingly wanting a more holistic approach to medicine, including acupuncture, massage and nutritional counseling and they want these measures to be covered by the insurance companies.

Laura mentioned a recent blog in the Huffington Post by a U.S. doctor speaking about “Functional Medicine”. Doctors in the U.S. are responding to patients’ demands for a more complete approach to healthcare by implementing the use of Western and Eastern medicine.

After all is aid and done, it appears that we will have healthcare reform, but will we have good health?

Peter stated that he envisions Peace Options as a catalyst for similar groups like ours to spring up across South Florida and perhaps the country as well.

On a personal note, we pray for the citizens of Iran. The world is watching their bravery, courage and willingness to speak out and put their lives on the line for what they believe in.

July Meeting

We were out-of-town for the July Meeting. Karl served as the moderator for the dinner meeting. We’ll hear from him next time.

August Meeting

Our sons went back to school and college this August. We had a very memorable family trip in July with our youngest son, Joe.

Our Lightbearer Alliance is growing on Facebook. We are now a global network! There are members all over the world, on every continent except for Antarctica. Thank you all of you. I also want to take a moment and thank John for all of his work for Lightbearer Alliance and Peace Options.

The topic for our dinner discussion was really about Lightbearers Alliance and its membership. How do we keep the momentum going? What more can we offer our membership? I say we should put the question directly to the membership on Facebook and see what suggestions the members have for us.
