What Is Our Responsibility to Each Other?

So many people are going through such difficult times. Losing their health, their homes, their jobs, even those they love.

What is our responsibility to them? Even if we don't have the ability to fix it, do we have a duty to try? After all, many of us feel compassion for them and want to ease their suffering.

On the other hand, we know that it is of their own creation (remember, we create it all). So who are we to interfere with what they have created to be experienced?

There is no easy answer. Each of us must balance these forces within ourselves, and act upon them as we determine we must.

Sometimes that means doing what we can, even if that is just being there for them so they don't have to go through it alone.

And sometimes it means standing by and letting them fall, suffering the consequences as they do.

If you can hear your inner voice, you'll have a good indication which path is for you. For without it spurring you into action, there's a good chance your desire to help may be playing out a judgment or expectation of what you think you should do in such a situation, and not what will best serve both your souls.

Life is not easy. Neither is exercising the responsibility that goes with it.

When you face these situations, I pray that your choices will come easy and bring you peace.
