How Can We Take Back Our Government?

How can we take back our government from those who abuse their positions of trust to serve the will of the people, without turning it over to others who wait for their turn to feed at the public trough?

How can we insure that new stewards will not continue with more of the same, surreptitiously serving their own self-interest at the expense of fundamental freedoms and equality?

I do not suggest that by any means we condone what is going on, or allow them to continue their errant ways. Rather, I ask what we can do individually and collectively to build in systemic reforms that insure we will be governed by qualified, responsive people who willingly subordinate their own affairs to the common good?
