Was I Crazy to Choose the Law as my Career Path?
Submitted by john dennison on Mon, 07/26/2010 - 18:07A number of years back a friend remarked how unusual my choice of the law was as a career path for me. It's not that he thought there was anything wrong with the law. Only that it didn't seem to fit me, that he saw me more as a healer or teacher than hired gun.

How Can We Find Our Way With So Many Forces Pushing in So Many Directions?
Submitted by john dennison on Mon, 07/26/2010 - 13:25We come into 3D world to create the lives we need, but no one teaches us how to do that. Perhaps in those moments we think the one we've created doesn't feel so right, it might help to consider just what we've gotten ourselves into.
As we look at our lives from an energetic perspective, we can see that the path to where we are today is the result of a complex blend of forces, each interacting upon the others to steer us down the road of life.

Tea Party vs. Coffee Party -- Who's Listening Anyway?
Submitted by john dennison on Thu, 05/13/2010 - 09:22We recently attended a public forum where tea and coffee party representatives squared off. It wasn't pretty. Both sides of the audience took turns making statements that inflamed the other. Neither spent much time on the issues, and even less listening to those they didn't agree with.
What hope do we have that Washington will listen to us when those who oppose the way they do business won't listen to each other?
Anyway, here's part of an email I later sent to a local coffee organizer:

Overcoming the Obstacle of Circumstance
Submitted by john dennison on Sun, 08/16/2009 - 08:32So many times we let the apparent obstacles of circumstance hold us back.
Sometimes it's a matter of excess. Too old. Too young. Too inexperienced. Too much experience.
At others it's lack. Not smart enough. Don't have the right connections. Wrong degree. Too little money. Or know how. Or family support. Or whatever.

How to Quit Your Job and Start a Company to Change the World
Submitted by admin on Fri, 05/15/2009 - 08:50In How to Quit Your Job and Start a Company, Guy Kawasaki interviews Pamela Slim of "Escape from Cubicle Nation," who explains how to quit your job and start a company to change the world. It’s a must-read for anyone thinking of taking the leap.
Here's an excerpt:
-
If you are in the very early stages of thinking about a business, spend your time getting to know yourself. One of the best things I learned from author Jim Collins is to study yourself as if you were a scientist observing a bug. Pay very close attention to the things that either make you feel great or feel crappy. Note the kind of environment, work, people, topics, industries, schedule, and activities that make you thrive. When you start your business with this awareness, you will feel natural energy and clarity which will make all the next steps of the process like choosing a business idea, figuring out the money, planning your business, identifying your customers, and creating a marketing process a lot easier.

Generation X: Praying To No One?
Submitted by admin on Mon, 05/11/2009 - 14:12"We don't always lose faith in God. We have lost it in the people clenching the velvet ropes. We see the sham, the ridiculousness, the corruptness that spiritual power raises in people." Or so says Tara Stiles in her recent Huffington Post article, discussing the survey performed by Harvard professor Robert Putnam.
