These are some of the recommendations we’ve heard or do ourselves.
Things to get or have on hand :
- Chlorine bleach (also isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide) .
- Hand Disinfectant.
- Disinfectant wipes.
- Nitrile gloves.
- Gan mao ling.
- Masks.
- Tissues.
- Cough syrup.
- Cough drops/throat lozenges.
- Ibuprofen and/or Tylenol.
- Food and water.
- Adequate supply of necessary medications.
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Plastic bags (small for waste and large for clothes until washed)
- Cash
Things to do :
- Regularly disinfect commonly-touched surfaces (handles, switches, counters, toys, etc.).
- Keep reasonable social distance.
- Don’t shake hands or kiss hello.
- Don’t lend or use other people’s devises.
- Wash hands after using a computer, phone, tablet (disinfect, too).
- Keep hands from face.
- Cough into elbow or shirt.
- Wear a mask around others if you’re sick.
- Wash hands thoroughly – 20 secs (silently sing Happy Birthday twice).
- Wash hands before AND after handling food/eating.
- Use separate hand towels or paper towels
- Take off coat (pants and shirt/blouse depending on exposure) and shoes upon returning home. Keep outside 3-4 hours or spray with Lysol (per one doc)
- Wash hands and disinfect phone immediately upon returning home
- Make contingency plans.
